The Jesus, Joy & Java Blog Is Finally Here!

Welcome to the Jesus, Joy & Java blog. My name is Paty Nava, some of you might be familiar with the Jesus, Joy & Java Podcast . I created this blog to share some of the stories I share on the podcast episodes and whatever God puts on my heart to encourage you. I started the podcast in August of 2022 and it's only taken me 6 Months (or 3 seasons to finally start a blog) I wasn't really sure if I would ever get to it. But it's finally here! Thank You Jesus!
Season One was all about the Proverbs 31 Woman, Season Two was on the Fruit of the Spirit and in this third season we are learning about the six pieces of Armor Paul instructs us to put in Ephesians 6. So far we have learned that the first piece of armor is the Belt of Truth. In Eph. 6:14 Paul says: “Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist. The belt of Truth was the first piece of armor the soldiers put on and did not remove it until the battle was over because it held all of the other pieces of the armor in place. The second piece of armor is the Breast plate of righteousness. This breast plate is made of bronze and covers the vital organs mainly the heart. It rests on the belt because it is very heavy. Which is another reason the soldiers did not remove the belt until the battle was over, because if they did, the breastplate would slip right off. If the soldier received a direct hit to the upper body, it could possibly kill him. wearing the breastplate could protect him from the enemy’s sword. The third part of the armor we just learned about this week are the Shoes of Peace. The Roman soldiers typically wore a sandal type of boot with the toes exposed. They had spikes on the soles to allow the soldier to be ready to climb and get a balance while standing, walking or running on a slippery surface. He needed to have his feet firmly planted on the ground at all times so that he could be ready when the enemy attacked.
Paul correlates all of these parts of the armor to the spiritual battle we Christ-followers fight on a daily basis. He encourages us to be ready for battle with our belt of Truth which is the word of God because He is the Truth. Paul also instructs us to have our breastplate tightly fastened so that we do not allow the enemy to get to pierce our heart with his fiery darts and to stand ready for battle with our feet firmly planted with the shoes of the gospel of peace.
